Carla Tiefenbacher
Carla Tiefenbacher is a doctoral researcher in the CRC 1187 “Media of Co-operation”. As part of the sub-project on “Digital Publics and Social Transformations in the Maghreb”, she is currently writing a PhD on forms of Spanish religious and military presence in northern Morocco.
Carla holds an MA interdisciplinary degree “Culture and Environment in Africa” (University of Cologne), and a BA(hons) in Liberal Arts and Sciences (University of Freiburg). Her MA thesis investigated archival practices among the last Spanish colonizers of Northern Morocco as testimonies to the interwoven afterlives of colonialism and Francoism.
Her research interests include Science and Technology Studies (STS), and anthropologies of the military, religion, memory, conflict and reconciliation. Carla is a trained mediator and grief counsellor.
