Maysa Ayoub

Professor Maysa Ayoub is a Political Sociologist specialized in Migration and Refugee Studies. She has over fifteen years of experience in research and teaching in the field of International Migration. At present, she holds the position of the Associate Director of the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) of the American University in Cairo (AUC). She has a PhD in Political Science from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science of Cairo University and an MA in Sociology as well as post-graduate diploma in Migration studies from the American University in Cairo. Her PhD thesis analyzed the relationship between migration policies, public opinion, and media comparatively examining the policy response of European countries in the face of the Syrian refugee crisis of 2015. She researched and taught courses on Migration Policies, Integration and livelihoods of minorities, Diaspora and Transnationalism, Social problems in the Middle East and the Arab World, and Qualitative Research methodologies.
