Prof. Dr. Andreas Guidi

Andreas Guidi is Associate Professor of History at the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO) in Paris. He is one of the EUniWell Champions of 2025-2026. His main areas of interest are the history of empires in the modern Mediterranean and the Balkans, the history of youth and generations, migration, and borderlands. Andreas is currently working on a second book project on the history of territorial regimes and illicit trade in the mid-20th century Mediterranean. He is the author of « Generations of Empire: Youth from Ottoman to Italian Rule in the Mediterranean » (University of Toronto Press, 2022 - Winner of the 2024 Mediterranean Seminar Best First Book Award). Andreas also edited a special issue for Journal of Social History entitled "Imperial Youth in the 19th and 20th centuries" and has published articles, among others, in International Journal of Middle East Studies, Revue d’histoire moderne et contemporaine, and Crime, History and Society.
